🌟 Project Overview & Vision
This publication design project focuses on crafting a comprehensive multi-page corporate financial guide titled TD First-Time Home Buyer Guide. Designed primarily in Adobe InDesign, with vector asset management in Adobe Illustrator and high-end image processing in Adobe Photoshop, the goal was to convert complex financial criteria into an approachable, warm, and structured reading experience. By seamlessly integrating TD’s signature corporate green identity with lifestyle photography, clear grid structures, and legibility-focused typography, the document builds immediate trust and institutional authority.

⚠️ Design Challenges & Strategic Solutions
-
Challenge 1: Maintaining Legibility Across High-Information Financial Tables
-
Problem: Content-heavy financial information—such as minimum down payment tiers and mortgage interest rates—can easily become visually tedious or difficult to scan.
-
Solution: Built custom Table Styles and Cell Styles in Adobe InDesign with generous internal cell padding, alternating background tints, and bold weight headers. This structural clarity allows readers to process financial data effortlessly without visual fatigue.
-

Challenge 2: Color Balancing Warm Lifestyle Photography with Vibrant Corporate Branding
-
Problem: Raw lifestyle photographs naturally varied in color temperature, warm sunlight, and shadow contrast, creating visual friction against TD’s iconic vibrant green branding (#52B735).
-
Solution: Processed all editorial images in Adobe Photoshop using non-destructive Camera Raw filters, Curves adjustment layers, and selective color grading to establish consistent warm golden-hour tones. Subdued secondary background opacity ensured high textual contrast while preserving brand visual harmony.

🛠 Tools & Technical Workflow
1. Adobe InDesign (Editorial Architecture & Master Publishing)
-
Grid System & Page Geometry:
-
Established a rigid 12-column baseline grid system to align headlines, body copy, subtext, and graphic frames consistently across all 16 pages.
-
-
Typographic Hierarchy & Automation:
-
Configured automated Paragraph Styles and Character Styles for headlines, lead paragraphs, bullet points, and footers to ensure absolute typographic consistency.
-
Employed precise tracking, kerning, and optical margin alignment to maximize readability across dense multi-column sections.
-

2. Adobe Photoshop (Imagery & Layered Color Control)
-
Photographic Grading & Masking:
-
Color-corrected lifestyle images to reflect a inviting, aspirational atmosphere (golden sunlight, natural living spaces).
-
Applied gradient layer masks and soft color overlays along image edges to allow smooth fade transitions into pure white background canvas for uninterrupted text placement.
-

3. Adobe Illustrator (Vector Assets & Brand Graphics)
-
Corporate Logo & Iconography Construction:
-
Managed precision vector logos and custom ui/ux icons (checkmarks, keychains, calculation badges).
-
Ensured vector graphics strictly adhered to official brand clear-space guidelines before importing via Linked Smart Objects into InDesign.
-
