📌 Executive Overview & Design Concept

The PIXELO Poster Campaign introduces a series of four custom-designed studio mascots created to establish emotional engagement, visual personality, and brand storytelling for PIXELO Animation Studio.

💡 The Core Conceptual Idea (Bridging Two Worlds):

The campaign is built around the illusion of pseudo-3D depth, where 2D vector mascots actively break through concrete wall textures. This spatial interaction symbolizes the seamless merging of the animated universe with the real world. By framing characters as physical entities bursting through print canvases, the design embodies the campaign slogan Creativity Unleashed—communicating that PIXELO’s animation brings flat ideas to life beyond traditional visual boundaries.

🎭 The Mascot Character Roster

The poster suite stars four original vector characters, each representing a core pillar of the studio’s identity:

  • NEXI: A cheerful robot who loves creativity and motion.

  • VEXO: A curious fox with quick thinking and playful energy.

  • MISTI: A gentle cloud that brings calm, rain, and charm.

  • ARLO: A small artist who turns ideas into color and shape.

🛠️ Multi-Software Technical Workflow & Execution

1. Adobe Illustrator (Vector Mascot Creation & Geometric Construction)
  • Custom Mascot Illustration: Built all four characters entirely from custom vector paths, Pen tool geometry, and precise Anchor Point alignment.

  • Dynamic Outline Strokes: Applied variable stroke weights using the Width Tool to define character silhouettes and give each mascot a polished, animated cartoon aesthetic.

  • Color Block Flat Fill: Created custom swatch libraries in Illustrator to assign distinct personality color schemes to NEXI (Mustard Yellow/Dark Slate), VEXO (Vibrant Fox Orange/Warm Cream), MISTI (Pastel Cyan/Mint White), and ARLO (Artist Pencil Yellow/Easel Wood).

  • Vector Asset Integration: Integrated film strip elements holding VEXO and NEXI, along with easel and canvas vector components for ARLO.

2. Adobe Photoshop (Compositing, Paper Wall Break & Depth Effects)
  • Wall-Break Hole Compositing: Composited the vector mascots inside a distressed concrete wall texture in Photoshop using Layer Masks and Smart Objects to simulate characters physically bursting through a surface.

  • Shadow & Depth Rendering: Applied multi-layered Inner Shadows, Drop Shadows, and Soft Brush blending overlays on top of the torn paper edges to establish dramatic dimensional realism.

  • Textured Background Overlays: Blended grunge paper overlays using Multiply and Soft Light blend modes while carefully preserving high contrast and character visibility.

  • Color Balance & Tonal Grading: Used Camera Raw Filters and Adjustment Layers (Curves and Hue/Saturation) to harmonize color temperature between bright vector characters and muted background textures.
